There are triathlon events for all ages and sizes!

Many people start at the Super Sprint distance, also known as an “Enticer” or Corporate team length even. These events are typically made up of a 200-300m swim, a 15-25km bike ride, and a 2-3km run. Usually at this level the event is held on a flat and non-technical course.

From there you can try Sprint distance triathlons, Olympic distance, and on to Half Ironman and full Ironman distances.

There are also alternative events such as indoors triathlons (swim, stationary bike and treadmill), cross country triathlons (swim, mountain biking and trail running) and SBRx3 (three rotations of Swim Bike Run in short distances each).

To start with triathlon you’ll need the following equipment:

  1. A swimming costume and goggles (wetsuit recommended in colder waters) plus a towel
  2. A bike and helmet (any bike is fine to start with)
  3. Running shoes, a workout top and shorts
